How do I know my face shape?

You do not need a tape measure or a mirror exercise. Upload one clear photo and the AI compares your jaw width, cheekbone width, forehead width and face length, then classifies you as oval, round, square, heart, diamond or oblong — and tells you which ratios drove the call, so you can sanity-check it yourself.

Face shape in seconds Six shapes, with a confidence score. Your face shape does not change, so you only need this once.
Then: does your cut suit it? The AI scores whether your current length, layering and volume placement balance your shape or fight it.

Hairstyle Analysis FAQ

Everything about face shapes, haircuts that suit them, and what the AI can and cannot see

The AI classifies your face as oval, round, square, heart, diamond or oblong, then judges whether your current length, layering and volume placement balance it. Round faces usually want length and height rather than width; square faces want softened corners and side-swept pieces; oval faces can carry almost anything. On Pro you also get 3–5 named cuts matched to your shape, with a match score for each.
You do not need a tape measure. Upload one clear front or three-quarter photo and the AI compares your jaw width, cheekbone width, forehead width and face length, then tells you which shape those ratios point to and how confident it is. Your face shape does not change, so this is a one-time answer you can keep.
For anything visible, yes: cut shape, layering, where the volume sits, length, curl pattern, colour, shine, frizz, split ends and breakage are all things a photo shows. Lighting and angle affect it, so a clear, evenly lit photo scores more reliably than a dark mirror selfie. What a photo cannot show, we do not guess — see the next two answers.
No, and anything that claims to from a photo is guessing. Porosity is about how your hair absorbs and holds moisture, which is measured with a strand or water test, not seen. The AI will describe visible signs that often accompany high porosity — frizz, dryness, rough texture — but it will never state a porosity level as fact.
No. The AI may note what is visible, such as density looking lower at the temples or a parting reading wider than the mid-lengths, but it will never name a condition, state a cause, or recommend a treatment. Hair loss has medical causes and belongs with a dermatologist or trichologist. Density is never held against your score.
The AI places your hair on the 1A–4C curl scale — 1 straight, 2 wavy, 3 curly, 4 coily — and reports density (fine, medium or thick) and length. Both feed the recommendations, because the same cut behaves completely differently on fine straight hair and on thick coily hair.
It is copy-paste text you hand to your stylist, or read aloud in the chair: the cut name, lengths in centimetres or inches, where the layers start, the fringe decision, and what to avoid for your face shape and hair type. It is written to be specific enough that two different stylists would cut the same thing. Miscommunicating with a stylist is the most common way a good haircut goes wrong, and this is the fix. The salon brief is a Pro feature.
Your face shape with a confidence score, your hair type, length and density, a 0–100 score across all five dimensions, your hair health and colour harmony read, and the single most impactful quick win for your photo. Pro unlocks the remaining quick wins, the recommended cuts, the salon brief, colour recommendations, a damage repair routine and a grow-out roadmap.
A change you can make tonight, that one wash undoes, triggered by something the AI can actually see in your photo — moving your parting, changing where the volume sits, drying in a different direction, tucking one side, or a product that addresses the specific thing it spotted. No haircut, no appointment, no growing anything out. Generic advice that would apply to any photo does not count.
